Help protect The Merchant’s House for future generations with a gift in your Will

The Merchant’s House has always been more than just a historic building. It is a place where Marlborough’s stories are preserved, shared, and brought to life for future generations.

As we look ahead, we have launched an ambitious new three-year plan focused on four key areas: museum development, visitor experience, fundraising, and financial sustainability.

From restoring historic rooms and expanding school visits, to improving exhibitions and caring for our collections, the plan will help ensure The Merchant’s House remains a thriving part of our community for years to come.
None of this would be possible without the support of people like you.
Alongside growing our Friends scheme and developing new partnerships, we are also beginning an important conversation about legacy giving. Quite simply, a gift left in a will can help protect and preserve The Merchant’s House long into the future, allowing future generations to enjoy and learn from this remarkable place.
We know this is a deeply personal decision, and there is absolutely no expectation. However, many charities like ours rely on the kindness and foresight of supporters who wish to leave a lasting impact on the causes they care about most.
Over the coming months, we will be holding a series of informal events to share more about our future plans, the projects we hope to deliver, and how legacy gifts could help support conservation, education, collections, and community engagement at The Merchant’s House. Solicitors will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about legacy giving in a relaxed and supportive setting.
We hope these events will provide an opportunity to find out more about the future of The Merchant’s House and the lasting difference a future gift could make.
